QUARTERLY GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT
Third Quarter 2006

The Gross Domestic Product for the third quarter of 2006, recently released by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica showed that the Gross Domestic Product at Constant Prices grew by 2.1 percent during the third quarter of 2006, when compared to the previous quarter. The Productive and Services sectors showed increases of 4.3 percent and 0.9 percent respectively.

When compared to the third quarter of 2005, the economy grew by 2.9 percent. The Productive Sector grew by 0.5 percent. Higher output levels were recorded in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and Mining and Quarrying. The Services Sector grew by 4.3 percent. This reflected improved performances in all industries with the exception of the Producers of Government Services.
