NEWS RELEASE July13, 2007 The Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2007, recently released by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica showed that the Gross Domestic Product at Constant Prices grew by 1.7 percent when compared to the first quarter of 2006. The Productive Sector grew by 1.4 percent as higher output levels were recorded in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, Mining and Quarrying and Construction and Installation. The Services Sector grew by 1.9 percent. This reflected improved performances in all industries with the exception of Miscellaneous Services, which declined by 0.2 percent. When compared to the previous quarter the economy declined by 0.1 percent. The Services Sector fell by 0.1 percent while the productive Sector remained relatively unchanged.
